Lisa is one of the missionaries to whom NECF extends prayerful and financial support.
In 1978, Lisa discovered her missionary call after a memorable summer in Bolivia, whee she was part of a team of students assigned by South America Mission of Florida, to evangelize and help set up foundational work for church planting in the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and in surrounding rural towns.
A graduate of Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, California with a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education and a minor in Pastoral Counseling, she joined One Challenge (OC International, Inc.) and has been serving the Lord in Sao Paulo, Brazil since 1984.
Ministry Focus to Train National Leaders
Lisa Began her ministry with the youth, disciplining and training how to disciple the youth as part of a regional youth council for 14 years. She taught at a Bible institute for 7 years and has written and published books in the Portuguese language on evangelism and discipleship, sexual abstinence and a devotional guide. Responding to a need for leadership training and mobilization, Lisa has taught seminars for Church leaders all over Brazil on evangelism and discipleship, cross-cultural missions, worship and other subjects. She has held various leadership positions on a national church level and was ordained in 1991 by one of the major Brazilian denominations. Since 2002, Ms. Groves has ministered in two Catholic rural communities of African descendants of slaves called quilombos. She has build bridges with these communities through periodic medical team assistance, food, clothing and her friendship. Her aim is to both, help the communities to increase their quality of life and to challenge the Church to outreach in these generally unreached communities.
Independent Missionary Status and Partnership
Beginning in 2009, Lisa has become an independent missionary, with her own ministry called Growing Faith Global Ministries, and depends on donations from any who wish to partner with her.
